About the New Bath Hotel
The New Bath Hotel is situated in the picturesque surroundings of Matlock Bath in Derbyshire. Matlock Bath is nestled on the borders of the Peak District and gained notoriety in the 17th century as a revitalising spa area. The New Bath spa was added to the existing baths in the 1740s. The New Bath Hotel was built over the New Baths in 1802 at the peak of the area’s fame, taking its name from the waters and incorporating the spa into the structure. Today, the three-star New Bath Hotel remains a beautiful Regency-style building set into five acres of manicured gardens. Part of the Brook Hotel group, the New Bath Hotel is a great base for visitors to Derbyshire.

The village of Matlock Bath is also still a popular visitor destination although it is now known more for nearby attractions than for its spas. Matlock Bath and the New Bath Hotel are located at the edge of the Peak District National Park, just north of Derby. This location at the southern end of the Pennines means that the area is always a hub for walkers and hikers.
Those looking for a little culture will enjoy a day at Chatsworth House, a short drive from the New Bath Hotel. Chatsworth House is a famous stately home containing a formidable collection of historic artworks and furniture, but it is particularly renowned for its period gardens. Alternatively, a family day out can be found at Gulliver’s Kingdom, a theme park built into the hills of Matlock Bath. The park contains a good selection of rides largely suitable for younger children. Thrill-seekers will however prefer Alton Towers, a short drive away.
